Optimizing with respect to Noise Receptors

Posted by Kevin at July 23. 2010

Hi Nick,

I’m having some trouble getting a layout to optimize while considering noise receptors.  I have an environmental sensor layer that is set with a maximum allowable turbine noise limit.  When I place the layer as a child of my WRG and try to set the child logic to “–ve”, it doesn’t stay.  So in other words, I set the child logic of the WRG to “–ve” for the environmental sensor layer and say ok, but when I open the WRG properties again the child logic for the layer is back to “.”  Likely something I have set incorrectly I'm sure, but I couldn’t find anything in the user manual or forum that seemed to help.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

-Kevin

Kevin Kevin Kevin,

You don't need to set the layer validity logic for the environmental sensor layers. They do their own special testing. You need to make sure that the environmental sensor layer can see all the turbine layers that it is meant to see and that it has access to sufficient terrain and vegetation information but so long as you do all that correctly then the limits should work. This is something we have just been testing. I just made it a little faster for env sensor layers with hundreds of points so I will likely post an updated exe in the coming week.

How about sending me your workbook so I can take a look?

Nick

Ahhh... I see.  I never even gave it a chance once it looked like it was ignoring the validity (I may need to work on my patience...).  Let me try to run it one more time and I'll get back to you.  I can send you the workbook as well if you want to take a look.

Hi Kevin,

Yes if you can't get it working, please send me the workbook.

Nick
