Testing simple layouts

Posted by Ingemar Carlén at September 19. 2011

Hello :o)

I am interested in comparing the wake loss models implemented in OpenWind with results I obtained with some old software many years ago (typically for a 10 by 10, 5D spacing farm , offshore/flat terrain)

After chosing/defining a turbine type, and entering the turbine coordinates .... is there some simple way to calculate production for each turbine corresponding to just a single wind speed and a single direction ??

Hi Ingemar,

You need a WRG in order to run an energy capture. However, for what you want to do it is simple enough just to make a flat WRG using a small utility I created a few years ago.

MakeWRG

You could also have created a flat terrain raster and then run a wind map.
