Trouble optimizing with old OpenWind files

Posted by Joan Miquel Angles at December 07. 2009

Hi Nick,

I was trying the new version with files I created with version 333. I'm able to reload those files even if they've got the windmap layer inside some other layer (as it was announced at the realease), but when I try and optimize turbine positions, OpenWind crashes.

I bet it doesn't happend with files created with the new version, but I'd like to ask you if you could fix this, otherwise I would have to re-calculate a lot of windmaps...

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Thanx!

Hi Nick,

About my last post, I realized that this problem only happens when I've got more than one windmap layer (although only one is inside the new layout layer)...

Thank you

Hi Joan,

Think you need to go ahead and recalculate. At some point in the future I will multithread the wind map calculation but right now it would make things difficult for the 32 bit users (The memory requirements increase hugely for multithreading this model). What I can suggest is that you re-run several of your wind maps at the same time as each calc will only use one core just now.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - festive season and all that.
Nick
