Thanks for OpenWind

Posted by Jack O'Boyle at March 07. 2011

Just downloaded OpenWind today and it seems straight forward to use and its great that it is free. I am wondering though how OpenWind compares to say WindPro or other wind farm programmes.

Also do you need WAsP in order to input your general site parameters and mast readings? And if so, how much is WAsP or where can one get a cheap/free copy?

Cheers, Jack

Hi Jack,

Please read the theory and validation document available on the downloads pagee to find out how openWind compares to WindFarmer. You can use the windflow model in openWind for a quick and dirty rough look at a site. However we do not recommend its use for serious work.

Nick
