critical failure

Up to Windows

critical failure

Posted by Dougal McQueen at August 03. 2010

I am trying to use the wind flow model. I can set up the model with terrain data, met station, and tab file. The model seems to run fine with the progress bar working. However when it comes to the end of the model the program falls over.

I had trouble with loading the grid in NZTM (cf UTM) and so removed the first couple of digits from the co-ordinates and then it loaded fine. I wonder if the program is falling over trying to allocate a memory...

I am running Windows 7 :(

Regards

Dougal

Hi Dougal,

Are you using win7 64bit and the 64 bit executable? If so, how much memory do you have and what is the memory use of openWind before it falls over?

I am using wind7-64bit and the openwind64 executable 8/7/10. I have 4GB memory and allocation seems static at about 1.56GB during the crash, so maybe not a memory error... the memory use of OpenWind is about 6MB before I run the wind solver, goes up to about 10MB during and drops by about 250k just before it falls over.

Thanks. Can you send me your workbook please as I run this model on a semi-regular basis and I haven't seen this crash? It should be straight-forward to fix if I can recreate it.

Please rename your workbook to something obscure such as dmcqueen.blb and post it to

ftp.awsopenwind.org

This is a one-way anonymous FTP server. Anyone can post to it and see what is there (hence the need to rename) but only I can download from it.

Cheers,

Nick
